Theoretical analysis for bedload particle deposition and hop statistics

چکیده

Understanding the statistics of bedload particle motions is great importance. To model hop events which are defined as trajectories particles moving successively from start to end their motions, recently, Wu et al. ( Water Resour. Res. , vol. 56, 2020, p. e2019WR025116) have successfully performed individual-based simulations according Fokker–Planck equation for velocities. However, analytical solutions still not available due (i) difficulties in treating velocity-dependent diffusivity, and (ii) a knowledge gap incorporating termination equation. tackle above-mentioned challenges, we first specify Robin boundary condition representing deposition particles. Second, statistics, variable transformation devised deal with diffusivity. The original transport problem thus found be governed by classic solute tube flows constant diffusivity after transformation. Finally, through solving spatial temporal moments governing equation, investigate influence rate on three key characteristics hops. Importantly, related mean travel times distances, enabling direct determination this physical parameter based measured motion statistics. validated experimental observations different diameters conditions. Based limited datasets, frequency shown decrease shear stress increases when flow small.

Analysis of mechanical-hydraulic bedload deposition control measures

During floods, the bedload transport of steep headwaters can exceed the hydraulic transport capacity of milder downstream reaches where settlements are often situated. Therefore, sediment retention barriers are typically installed upstream of such sensible areas. These barriers trigger bedload trapping via two control mechanisms, either hydraulic or mechanical. Both deposition controls, pertain...

Theoretical analysis of vertical colloidal deposition.

We have modeled the dynamics of a relatively new deposition technique, vertical colloidal deposition (VCD), for preparing nanoparticle thin films. In this process, the substrate is placed vertically in a nanoparticle suspension and is gradually exposed by evaporation or other slow solvent removal. During the film's formation, we observe that the colloidal particles are deposited only at the sol...

Theoretical Statistics and Asymptotics

Cox and Hinkley’s Theoretical Statistics (1974) was arguably the first modern treatment of the foundations and theory of statistics, and for the past thirty years has served as a unique book for the study of what used to be called mathematical statistics. One of its strengths is the large number of examples that serve not only to illustrate key concepts, but also to illustrate limitations of ma...

Performance Analysis of Millimeter-Wave Multi-hop Machine-to-Machine Networks Based on Hop Distance Statistics

As an intrinsic part of the Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystem, machine-to-machine (M2M) communications are expected to provide ubiquitous connectivity between machines. Millimeter-wave (mmWave) communication is another promising technology for the future communication systems to alleviate the pressure of scarce spectrum resources. For this reason, in this paper, we consider multi-hop M2M commu...
